In 2012, the Empire State Building partnered with Philips Color Kinetics to renew its famous tower lighting system. Extending from the building's 72nd floor to its mast, the tower lights change colors to recognize key milestones, events, charitable organizations, countries, and holidays throughout the world.

For the building's first major exterior lighting renovation in many years, Philips Color Kinetics created a multi-product solution that includes a custom version of ColorReach Powercore, their premium long-throw exterior LED floodlight. By combining multiple channels of red, green, blue, and white LED light sources, these custom fixtures can produce both intensely saturated full-color light and precisely dimmable cool white light for an astonishing range of stunning and subtle lighting effects.

Philips Color Kinetics also created a custom control solution which will allow building staff to instantly change the tower lights' color scheme and display light shows and dynamic effects at the touch of a button.

Innovative, intelligent LED lighting solutions from Philips Color Kinetics are already in use in over 34,000 transformative, high-profile installations around the world. Now we're using our unparalleled expertise to make the Empire State Building's renowned lighting system more flexible, more dynamic, and more dramatic than ever before.
